The Botanical Garden in Tartu,


Last weekend I visited my best friend in Tartu. I had been several times during this year there and we had planned to visit one place, but every time we wanted to go to The Botanical Garden, when weather was against us s well time. Finally last weekend we had opportunity to visit the place and I must say, it was very beautiful. I really liked it. I could not remember much, since last time I visited that place I was small and was still going on primary school. I was happy to visit that place again, since it was very beautiful, at least that is my opinion. I will also add pictures about the place. That visit made me to wish to have self a garden and see how beautiful flowers there can be put to grow.

Here I will also add some information about The Botanical Garden:
The Botanical Garden of the University of Tartu was founded in 1803, near what is now the Vanemuine Old Theatre House. In 1806 the garden was relocated to more suitable site, on the ruins of the ancient city wall and fortifications near the river and ponds. The first director of the garden was Prof. Gottfried Albrecht Germann and the first chief gardener in duty was Johann Anton Weinmann. The first master plan of the Garden was made by Weinmann and it serves till nowadays. In 1811 Prof. Carl Friedrich Ledebour was nominated the director. Under his active leadership, the collections of the Garden were enriched by many new species, collected from Siberia and other unexplored regions of the Russian Empire, and firstly described by Ledebour. Most of them reached Western Europe via our Garden. Many other famous botanists as Trautvetter, Maximovicz, Bunge, Russow, Kuznetsov, Lippmaa have contributed to the development of this marvelous Garden. The Garden contains several monuments gratefully reviving the memory of our forerunners contribution.

Happiness,

I am using quite much Orkut and there is tradition that every day you get a new fortune sentence. So I did got it also today, and that made me to think about it. The sentence I got is:

Today's fortune: Get happiness out of your work or you may never know what happiness is.

This sentence made me to think, what is happiness at all? Is it something we can see or feel or hear? Does it has colors or looks? One question just raises other one and so on and on. What would people see or think about happiness?
I believe as many people lives in world, as much different opinions,feelings they think about, when you ask from them, what is happiness in their opinion.
So that means, I can say only my own opinion about it and see, how others think about it, if they happens to read my thoughts and opinion.
For me, I can see that happiness is something what makes me smile, makes me to think back for good times I have had and think about future for times to come. I believe, that even on a hard rough day, you can find some strength inside what makes you smile and happy. I believe that it is something what makes me feel good. So in my opinion I can say that it is the way I feel and my mind is. You can be happy over small things and over big things, sometimes I think that a small thing can overweight bigger things and just a small thing can be beginning for something bigger and it gives end result, that you are happy and joyful and feeling well.

Beer festival,

Every year in summer in Estonia we have tradition to have Beer festival. It starts on Wednesday and ends Sunday evening. It takes place in July only dates are moving. This year it took place from 8Th of July until 12Th of July. Place is always same, same ground as we hold just week before our big song festival.
This year it was hold already 16Th times. So small anniversary was hold last year, but by every summer seems, that people are waiting that festival, since during this 5 days people can enjoy good music, good beer and wine and of course a lot of good food. Several different food you can taste, since different kitchens introducing their food - can eat Indian food, Chinese food, Estonian food etc. Different areas with different games,dance, shows. There is a lot activity for children, young people as well elderly people. Always have been think ed well, so people can have really good time. Only this year the weather was party friendly, but weather cant be same, since all years are different as well as days, even thought it luckily did not rain constantly everyday.
This years main performances was Moby and Mumiy Troll, as well Sunday was our own international star Kerli. For me, after years, that was one summer when I did not went to the festival, and I must say i do not feel sad, since when I saw how many people there was, when I was glad.
Also has been mentioned that Cox news have chosen Õllesummer in top 5 beer festivals in Europe. Among Õllesummer was also mentioned of course biggest beer festival: Oktoberfest, but also was mentioned Cannstatti beer festival, Europe beer festival and Great British beer festival, so that should show how big our beer festival, here in Estonia is. Every time can hear different languages and see different nationalities and so on. It is nice time to spend couple of days in summer. Perhaps next year I will visit again :)

Arabic and Roman numbers,



Since some people use also Roman numbers and there a many who does not use, when I thought that I will add some information about them to my blog. It helps also self me, since always I like to mix up self 50 and 500 :) Also I find Roman numbers facinating, something what would not be used much in everyday. Here is also bit information about Roman numbers:

Roman numerals are a numeral system of ancient Rome based on letters of the alphabet, which are combined to signify the sum of their values. The Roman numeral system is decimal but not directly positional and does not include a zero. It is a cousin of the Etruscan numerals, and the letters derive from earlier non-alphabetical symbols; over time the Romans came to identify the symbols with letters of their Latin alphabet. The system was modified slightly during the Middle Ages to produce the system used today.

Roman numerals are commonly used in numbered lists (such as the outline format of an article), clock faces, pages preceding the main body of a book, chord triads in music analysis, the numbering of movie publication dates, months of the year, successive political leaders or children with identical names, and the numbering of annual events.

To Breathe as One,



It is not a coincidence that in the Estonian language the word's "soul" and "breathing" come from the same stem. One word developed from the other, because breathing and soul are connected. Even so closely connected that if you breathe in the same rhythm with someone, with a little luck it is possible to see his soul. The same magic works when tens and thousands breathe as one. They look for the right place in a hurry, gasping for breath. They hold their breath in anticipation. They rejoice from their heart and soul. This is when the souls of one nation meet. It is breathtakingly beautiful. By breathing as one, history can be changed. The vibrations of the soul create a resonance that has broken iron and brought down political regimes. But it is not the only aim of breathing as one. This celebration unites us with those who sang and danced before us, as well as with our contemporaries whose soul may go unnoticed in the everyday rat race. When people breathe as one, it does not matter whether you face the audience of the performers of whether you are somewhere else instead. When you breathe with others as one, your soul is there.

In after every 5 year our nation has big song and dance festival. It is very popular among choirs and dancers, but as well it is very popular among Estonian nation. For a first time I self went there and listened and looked it, since usually I have been self there singing. This is one thing, what makes people to feel as 1. This year it was also special. It passed 140 year, since first song festival, what found place 1869. So it has his own small jubilee, so for 10 years, we can celebrate 150 years from first song festival. Only one difference is, that when first time was only men aloud to sing that festival, now are also women join to sing and dance. For me, it has given always good and positive feeling and makes happy to be there and to be proud to be estonian. This is good place to be and listen a lot of good music and as well to see people to dance. It gives very positive time for everyone after years hard work. All traditions with fire, with songs. Also time with people, spirit, feeling and so many things what makes it very good event, but most important people behind that and the visitors, singers what make it to be as good as it is.
By the small statistic what has been told out have been, that first day on song festival was around 75 000 people and second day over 100 000 people. That must also say how much our people hold together. For this time it is over, but already new song festival will come on 5 years.
